Food alerts
Food Alerts, issued by the Food Standard Agency (FSA), are made as a way of letting local authorities and members of the public know about health risks associated with particular foods and drinks. In some cases they provide details of specific action to be taken by local authority food safety teams..
Through these alerts it is hoped we can:
- be educated on potential health risks and
- be offered guidance on what action may be required to protect us from further risks.
When the FSA notifies the London Borough of Barnet of a food alert, if needed we will take action to ensure food businesses are not only aware of the issues, but are complying with any requirements specified by the Food Standards Agency, such as removing potentially hazardous foods from sale or use.
