Who do we help?
We provide a range of services to people who have a:
- physical and sensory impairment
- learning disability
- mental health support needs
- drug or alcohol abuse problems
- HIV/AIDS, or any a long term or chronic illness, or who are
- over 65 years and are physically or mentally frail.
We also provide support to carers.
Social Care Connect
This is an online resource that allows people who use social care services and the wider community to find out about services and activities in their area.
Social Care Connect allows users to search for a social care service or activity in the borough. Visitors to the website can also rate services, leave comments and discuss their experience of a service or activity with others.
Protecting vulnerable adults from abuse (Safeguarding Adults)
All local authorities have a duty to ensure that vulnerable adults, who are at risk of abuse, receive protection and support. If you, or another vulnerable adult you know is being harmed in any way by another person, please do not ignore it.
For information about what abuse is, who abuses and how to report it, you can visit our Safeguarding Adults page.
Deprivation of liberty safeguards
From 1 April 2009 the deprivation of liberty safeguards, which have been introduced into the Mental Capacity Act through the Mental Health Act 2007, came into force. These safeguards are there to protect people who have a mental health problem, learning disability or lack the capacity to give consent to arrangements made for their care from being unnecessarily deprived of their liberty.
