Child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS)
CAMHS provides a service to children, adolescents and their families who are experiencing a range of emotional and mental health problems, such as:
- bereavement;
- abuse;
- difficulties resulting from family breakdown;
- depression;
- anxiety disorders
- self- harming behaviour;
- difficulties arising from conditions such as autism and learning disability
- behavioural problems e.g. ADHD
CAMHS is made up of a number of different professionals who are able to provide a range of treatments depending on the problem. Specialist services are available for certain groups such as adolescents and those with learning difficulties.
Referrals to CAMHS can be made via your GP.
