Freemantle Trust Day Centres

These day centres for older adults aim to help people to continue to live independently in the community. For many people day care will be one of a number of services they receive. To attend one of these day centres, you will first need to be assessed by a social worker to see if you are in need of the service. If you qualify for the service, the social worker will make the arrangements for you.

Age Concern Barnet, Day Centres

Age Concern Barnet runs two day centres. Each centre provides social and leisure activities, exercise classes, outings, holidays, chiropody, hairdressing, lunch and refreshments. They can offer transport to and from the centres.

Alzheimer’s Society Barnet Branch

The Alzheimer’s Society provides specialist day care for people of all ages with dementia. A wide range of activities are provided. There is also a Community Dementia Support Worker.

Anand Centre

This is a day centre for elderly Asian people. They can provide transport as well as freshly cooked vegetarian meals. They also offer social activities, religious meetings, outings and organise talks on health issues.

Barnet African-Caribbean Association Day Centre

This association provides day care for older adults of African or Caribbean origin. A hot meal is provided as well as social activities, exercise classes, arts and crafts, quizzes, games and health visitors sessions.

Barnet Asian Old People’s Association

This association run a day centre for the Asian elderly every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 12noon-4pm. They provide information and education, health promotion, English lessons, exercises, singing, religious celebrations and walking group every Friday. Lunch and snacks are provided.

This day centre is for people who are over 60 years and live in the Chipping Barnet area. They provide lunch and activities. Transport can be provided if necessary.

Flightways Resource Centre

Flightways Resource Centre offers a range of services to people with a physical or sensory impairment. The centre aims to improve the quality of life of disabled people by providing access to therapeutic services such as physiotherapy, information technology, arts and crafts. To attend one of these day centres, you will first need to be assessed by a social worker to see if you are in need of the service. If you qualify for the service, the social worker will make the arrangements for you.

Finchley Community Network

This organisation can offer day care for older adults. They offer meals, social activities, outings, exercises, information and advice, support and companionship.

Jewish Care

Jewish Care run two activity centres for Jewish people over 70, in Hendon and in Southgate. They are focused on services for independent older people and provides a range of activities including arts and crafts, speakers, entertainers and discussion groups. A kosher meal is also provided.

Jewish Deaf Association Members Day Centre

This day centre is open to members of the Jewish Deaf Association only. The centre arranges outings and signed celebrations of Jewish holidays.
