Mutual exchange / homeswap is designed to help council tenants swap their homes. Under this scheme you can swap with other council or housing association tenants who have joined the scheme.

What is it?
Barnet Council holds a Mutual Exchange list. You and another tenant can mutually agree to swap houses under this scheme. It is available for people wanting to swap within the borough.

Homeswap
What is it?
This scheme is run across the United Kingdom. It is managed by an external organisation that helps tenants to swap their homes. You do not have to tell or ask permission from your landlord to join this scheme. However, when you find someone to swap with you will then need to get permission from your landlord.
How do I register?
The best way to find someone to exchange with is to fill in a Homeswap registration form. Alternatively, you can register online at Homeswap. When you register with Homeswap, your details will be entered on a computer system. You will receive a list of people with whom you may want to swap.
Lists are also available at housing reception, Barnet House, area housing offices and public libraries. For more information regarding the qualification criteria please speak to Barnet Homes on the number provided.
Fresh Start

Seaside and Country Homes Scheme
This scheme is open to both council tenants and registered social landlords who live in London. All applicants must be 60 years of age or older. To find out further information please contact H.O.M.E.S on 020 7963 0200.
What you need to know
There are approximately 3,200 flats and bungalows located in costal and country areas from Cornwall in the south west to Norfolk on the east coast, as well as in the Midlands and Lincolnshire. Applicants are considered within a ‘points system’.No owner occupiers will be considered.
