Housing advice
What can you help me with?
If you have a housing problem your first stop will be the Housing Advice Team at Barnet Homeseekers. Due to the shortage of housing in Barnet, we cannot offer a house to everyone that has a housing problem but we can work with you to try and find other solutions.
I am afraid that I might be threatened with homelessness. How can you help me?
The Housing Advice Team will work with you to try and stop this from happening. We can provide help with:
- informing you about your legal rights in your home
- rent arrears
- mortgage arrears
- contact Directgov (external link) for more information about mortgage help.
- getting help to pay your rent
- disrepair in your home
- problems where your landlord is not willing to return your deposit
- claiming benefits
- housing options.
How can I access the service?
We offer our service by appointment:
- Tel: 020 8359 4797
- Email: homeseekers@barnet.gov.uk
- By letter and through our drop in service at Barnet House.
We are open Monday to Friday 9am until 4pm, but are closed on Wednesday mornings until 1.30pm.
It is important that you contact us as soon as you feel you have a problem. The sooner we know of any problems the sooner we are able to help you sort them out.
What if you can’t help me?
If we are unable to help you we can refer you to someone that may be able to.
