Poor housing conditions

Responding to complaints of poor housing conditions in private sector housing.

We deal with:

  • Complaints from residents in private sector housing relating to disrepair, health and safety issues, statutory nuisances and noise

  • Collapsed ceilings and roof leaks
  • Defective electrical installations
  • Overcrowding

  • Defective drainage
  • Defective sinks, baths, WC’s and other sanitary facilities
  • Defective cooking and food preparation facilities
  • Disconnection of water, gas, or electricity where the landlord /agent is in arrears
  • Accumulations of refuse on private land
  • Bonfires.

Our standards for houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) deal with:

  • Number of occupants and room sizes;
  • Numbers of kitchens,
  • Numbers of bathrooms and WC’s
  • Fire safety
