Housing strategy and policies
Consultation: Housing Strategy (draft) 2010 - 2025
We want your views on how we provide housing choices that meet the needs and aspirations of Barnet residents: ends 26 February 2010.
The existing Housing Strategy 2003-2010
Our current Housing Strategy sets out our exciting and ambitious plans to improve both the supply and quality of housing in the borough, and achieve our ambitious commitment to our residents:
“…to ensure that everyone in Barnet has an excellent quality home in which they would choose to live in a sustainable, safe and welcoming community.”
Building upon our Housing Strategy, we have developed a visionary planning framework through our three-strand approach:
- protection for the green belt and green spaces
- enhancement of the existing successful suburban environment by ensuring that any development in these areas is appropriate and complementary
- growth through major regeneration schemes in Cricklewood, Colindale and Mill Hill and the regeneration of our largest council estates.
This will support and enhance the qualities that already make Barnet such a popular place to live, with its extensive green spaces, vibrant town centres and classic suburban environment.
