Developers' planning obligations
Planning Obligations Framework (Section 106)
New development normally generates requirements for additional services and facilities, such as more school places or health care facilities, which inevitably will have an effect on public sector resources. It is now recognised that the community is entitled to seek a contribution from the developers to offset these costs.
Barnet Council has prepared a Supplementary Planning Document on “planning obligations” which highlights the legislation, the process and Barnet’s proposed approach in requiring contributions from new development.
