How to apply
You can apply online for planning permission and other consents under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, using The Planning Portal. This service, developed in partnership with the Planning Portal, enables you to fill in and submit electronic forms, attach electronic drawings (preferably in pdf format) and site location plans.
The service will advise on the required fee, which can be paid online or paid separately by cheque. Alternatively, you can make a paper application.
You will need to submit:
- Four copies of completed and signed application forms (FAQs) or,
- Collected from the Planning Reception at the address shown in the contact details shown opposite, or
- Posted or emailed to you by phoning: 020 8359 3000 or emailing: planning.enquiry@barnet.gov.uk
- Guidance notes (FAQs) are available to help you in submitting your application correctly
- Four copies of plans drawn to scale (normally 1:100 or 1:50)
- Four copies of 1:1250 scale site location plans: Application for an Ordnance Survey Map Extract
(PDF 34KB) - Four copies of a Design and Access Statement (if required).
- One copy of Sustainability Checklist for minor and householder applications
(PDF 159KB).
A fee is payable depending on the type of application. For most householder applications this is currently £150.
