Planning Obligations
On this page you can find everything you need to know about Planning Obligations, together with details of how Barnet calculates Planning Obligations (also know as Section 106 Agreements) for new development.
The structure for how planning obligations will be considered and calculated in Barnet is set out in the Planning Obligations Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
(PDF: 707KB). This document contains reference to all Unitary Development Plan policies that planning officers will need to consider and weigh up, as part of deciding whether a development opportunity is suitable.
Focused SPDs that will be useful in determining the appropriate obligations are:
- Affordable Housing
- Education Facilities
- Health Facilities and Resources
- Library Facilities and Resources
- Sustainable Design and Construction
Further types of contributions may also be relevant to your scheme; a list of many potential obligations, applicable dependent on the detailed circumstances of your development site, are set out in the Planning Obligations SPD. Please remember to consider these when preparing your planning application. The best way of being certain of the negotiated contributions that will apply to a planning application is to discuss these in a pre-application advice session.
