Locally Listed Buildings

This is a list of buildings of local architectural or historic interest. These are buildings considered by the Council to be of importance to the borough’s heritage and townscape character. Locally listed buildings are not subject to the same protection as Statutory Listed Buildings; however, the Council will seek to ensure that their special character is protected and enhanced.

Scheduled Monument Consent

The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 provides for nationally important archaeological sites to be statutorily protected as Scheduled Ancient Monuments.

The scheduling of a monument means that permission - 'Scheduled Monument Consent' (SMC) - is required for works affecting that monument.

The two scheduled Ancient Monuments in the borough are the Brockley Hill Romano-British Pottery in Edgware and the Manor House, East End Road, Finchley.
