Children's library service
Barnet libraries welcome children from birth onwards – even babies can join!
To become a member you will just need to complete a short form (signed by parents/ carers for children under 16 years old) and show us two forms of identification featuring your address and parent/ carer’s signature.
In each library you will find:
- Lots of special board books and picture books to share as well as books for children just beginning to read alone
- Giant picture books, large print stories and books in many different languages
- Books and information about your hobbies or to help with your homework
- Stories to suit all tastes and ages
- Free access to computers and the best websites for children and young people
- Story tapes for all ages as well as videos, DVDs and Playstation games (in selected libraries)
- Materials for young adults and teenagers.
- Materials to help parents and carers.
The library service also participates in the national Bookstart programme which encourages families to share books with their young children.
