Children's Internet safety
The internet can be fun and is a great source of information. However, you must also be careful and follow a few simple tips to ensure that you surf safely:
- Keep your personal details secret. Never tell anyone your address or your password.
- Never meet someone you have been in contact with via the internet without your parent’s permission. Remember someone online may not be who they say they are.
- Report any sites that make you uncomfortable to library staff or tell your parent/ guardian.
- Use the special children’s favourites to help you with your homework and for fun. These sites have all been checked out by library staff and are specially designed for you.
- Remember that not all information on the internet is accurate. Check to see when it was last updated.
- Remember to behave to others as you would have them behave to you. Do not use abusive language or attempt to download materials that may be offensive. Inappropriate use of the library computers will not be tolerated.
