Online computer training
Public computers in all Barnet libraries offer a wide range of online computer skills courses for library users. These courses are free of charge to library users and the only restriction on use is the normal one hour daily limit on library computer use.
The courses, called Impetus, cover the following subjects:
- European Computer Driving Licence
- FrontPage 2000
- Internet Explorer
- Lotus Notes
- Office 97: Excel 97, Outlook 98, Powerpoint 97, Word 97
- Office 2000: Access 2000, Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, PowerPoint 2000, Word 2000
- Office XP: Access XP, Excel XP, Outlook XP, PowerPoint XP, Word XP
- PC Skills
- Project 98
- Project 2000
- Windows 2000
- Windows 98
- Windows XP
Library users can create their own username and password and then work through the courses at their own pace. Impetus tracks your progress through the courses so each time you log in you can pick up from where you left off.
Getting started with Impetus
The public Internet computers in libraries have links on the desktop and in the browser Favourites list to Impetus. If you need more help please ask in your local library. The system is only available to use within the library.
