Renewing items online
You can renew your library books and check your loans online at the www.libraries.barnet.gov.uk
To look at your own borrower records over the Internet, you will need a password. You can obtain one in any Barnet borough library - simply present your borrower ticket, and ask for a password to be allocated to you. You will be asked to choose your own number, and you will need to remember it. We are sorry but we are unable to do this for you online.
Please note that this part of the system uses a new display ('pop-up' windows).
Getting started
- Type your library borrower ticket number in the Patron Login box.
- Type your password into the Your Password box.
- Make sure the Remember Me box is ticked. This will remember your library borrower ticket number so you will only need to type your password.
- Choose Continue.
- The service will acknowledge your name and home library.
- Choose Continue.
Check your record
- Choose View Patron Record. A new window opens with your Patron record details.
- To see a list of the items you have on loan, and the dates they are due back, choose Item List.
- To see information on overdue items, or outstanding charges, choose Problems List.
Renewing Items
- To renew some or all items on a borrower ticket, first choose Item List. Then Renew Items
- Either, choose Renew all items
- Or, tick the numbered box(es) beside the item(s) you wish to renew, and choose Renew selected items.
- The system will state ‘Renewed, operation successful’ and give you the new due date.
- The system will warn you ‘This item has been renewed for the final time’ when the third renewal is reached.
Problems?
- The service will not renew any items on tickets that have overdue items, or on which there is money owing. It will display the message ‘Not renewed, please consult with library staff’.
- The service will not renew an item that has already been renewed three times. It will display the message ‘Not renewed. Exceeds renewal limit.’
- The service will not renew anything if the ticket has not been updated within the last three years. It will display the message ‘Not renewed, card expired for this patron.’ Contact your library if this occurs, or if you have any other problems.
- Please note that overnight some routine work takes place to this service. There will be short periods of time when all the functions of the system may not be available and you may need to retry a few minutes later.
