Membership/joining
Anyone can become a member of Barnet Libraries
Joining the library allows you to borrow books, DVDs, and CDs. It also gives you free access to the internet for an hour a day, as well as a digital library of e-books and e-audio books and over 300 internet reference resources from home
These are the steps you need to take to join the library:
Step 1
- Complete an application form for library membership
(PDF 26 KB)
Once completed please hand it in to your local library. Check out the list of libraries in the Barnet borough. If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian to complete the declaration on your application and to sign the form.
Step 2
- Take the completed form to the library with proof of your current address.
For example: a bank statement; utility bill (no more the 3 months old); or other official document (TV licence, council tax bill, pension book). If you do not have any of these you may bring an official letter from your employer confirming your address in Barnet.
Step 3
We will then give you your library card and a PIN which you will need if you want to use a computer in the library or use many of our online services. You should sign your library card as soon as you receive it as you are responsible for the items borrowed with it.
That’s it ….
As soon as you have your library card and PIN, you can borrow items from any Barnet library and access our online digital library. Please remember to bring your library card with you if you want to borrow or renew items in the library.
You can also renew items by phone or online. You will need your PIN to do this online.
