Membership/joining
If you live, work or study in the London Borough of Barnet, you may join Barnet libraries.
Joining Barnet libraries allows you to borrow books, DVDs, CDs and videos. It also gives you free access to the Internet for an hour a day, as well as access to over 300 Internet reference books from home.
These are the steps you need to take to join the library:
Step 1
Obtain and complete an application form for library membership
(PDF: 26 KB). Once completed please hand it in to your local library.
Check out the list of libraries in the Barnet borough.
If you are under 16, ask a parent, guardian or teacher to complete the declaration on your application and sign it.
If you are an adult who does not live in the borough, fill in your business or college address, postcode and daytime telephone number on your application.
You are asked on the form for information which will help us to give a better service to the community.
Step 2
Take the completed application form to the library enquiry desk with proof of your signature. For example, driving licence, credit card, passport, or bank card and
proof of your home address. e.g. bank statement, current (no more than three months old) utility bill (gas, electricity), official document (TV licence, council tax bill, pension book)
Or a letter from your employer, landlord or person you are staying with, confirming your address in the Barnet borough.
Step 3
We will then give you your library card. You should sign it as soon as you receive it as you are responsible for all items borrowed on it.
That's it...as soon as you have your library card, you may use it to borrow items from any Barnet borough library.
Please remember to bring your library card with you if you want to borrow or renew items in the library as you will unable to do so without your library card.
