CANS - Advice Notes

CANS Advice Notes is a detailed summary of the laws of England, Wales and Scotland. CANS covers what the law is, explains the law and puts it into context with other legislation. Compiled and updated weekly by a team of lawyers CANS is a key resource for understanding the laws of the land.
Tips on using CANS - Community Advice Notes
- From the drop down list of Library Authorities choose London Borough of Barnet Libraries then type in your 14-digit library card barcode number and click Sign in
- You can browse CANS using the 20 separate categories shown in the menu on the left. These categories include Employment, Housing and Family.
- You can also seach for legislation on a particular subject using the search box on the right of the screen. You can limit your search to the law of a particular country or one section of CANS.
- There is also an A-Z index that lists all the subjects in CANS
- To keep track of where you are in CANS and how you have got there a trail of 'breadcrumbs' is shown at the top of the screen with ^ symbols. These show where you are in CANS and help you find your way around.
