The entire contents of the second edition of the Encyclopedia Judaica is the latest addition to Barnet's 24/7 Online Reference Library.
Published in print and electronic versions in 2007 the 2nd edition of the Encyclopedia Judaica is now available as an e-book as part of the Gale Virtual Reference library.
You can use the Encyclopedia online in all Barnet libraries or, using your 14-digit library card number, from home.
You can search the entire encyclopedia or browse through any or all of the 22 volumes from Aa-Alp to Wel-Zy. This e-book version lets you go straight to the subject you are interested in using the search or index, or you can browse through all 18,000 pages page by page.
Tips on using the Encyclopedia Judaica online

- Login with your library ticket number if you are at home
- Choose Gale Virtual Reference Library
- You can search directly from the 'basic search' box. This will search throughout the entire 22 volume encyclopedia and take you to the relevant sections of the encyclopedia
- You can also browse through the encyclopedia using the contents list or index
- To browse the Encyclopedia Judaica select 'View publications' then Encyclopedia Judaica
- This allows you to browse through the encyclopedia page by page by using the 'eTable of contents'
- Use the eBook index to look for a particular subject
- There is also a 'Quick search' feature so you can search the encyclopedia when you are browsing through the contents.
