Changes To Parking Permits In Effect From April 1st 2009
The Council issues parking permits to residents and businesses to allow vehicles to be parked within Controlled Parking Zones across the borough. We have recently written to all permit holders across the borough to outline these changes and have written guidance notes below to enable permit holders to see how they will be affected.

Holders of a Residents Parking Permits should click here to see what changes have been implemented in relation to temporary parking permits, visitor vouchers and dispensation permits.
Residents Parking Permits
Renewal of Residents Parking Permits should take place on or shortly before the date the existing permit is due to expire and placed in the vehicle to avoid a penalty charge notice. Any permit with an expiry date after 1st April 2009 will remain valid until its expiry date.
Resident parking permit renewals previously only required proof of residency and vehicle ownership at the date of application, however to combat fraud and misuse such proof will now be required to be submitted to the Council on renewal every 5 years.
Residents can now purchase and print their own parking permits online:

Visitors Vouchers
The Council previously limited the number of vouchers that could be provided to a residence at 200. Additional visitor vouchers may now be issued over and above this number at the discretion of the Director of Environment and Transport.
Residents in possession of visitor vouchers prior to 1st April 2009 are not affected and they remain valid.
Dispensation
Dispensation permits are issued for 14 days to new residents applying for their first permit, those changing their vehicle or those with courtesy cars and this permit will continue to be offered

Business parking permit renewals previously only required proof of business and vehicle ownership at the date of application, however to combat fraud and misuse such proof will now be required to be submitted to the Council on renewal every 3 years.
Businesses can now purchase and print their own parking permits by visiting www.barnet.gov.uk/parking or by telephoning the new automated permit line on 0845 301 0206.
Renewal of Business Permits should take place on or shortly before the date the existing permit is due to expire and placed in the vehicle to avoid a penalty charge notice.
Business Postcode Permits
The current permits issued to businesses instead of specific vehicles will now display the words ‘ANYREG’ rather than a postcode.
Builders
A new permit is to be introduced enabling builders to purchase permits on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis. There will be a maximum of 3 annual permits per company.
These permits will be issued on receipt of proof of company and vehicle ownership and will allow builders to park in a Controlled Parking Zone when carrying out building works. Evidence of no works being carried out may result in a penalty charge notice and withdrawal of the permit.
Those with additional enquiries or queries relating to the way in which permits can be applied for, renewed or amended can contact the parking team 0208 359 7446 or by e-mailing parking@barnet.gov.uk.
