Road safety education

There are many project and initiatives aimed at school pupils, aiming to teach the skills required to become safe and independent pedestrians.

Pre-school, Foundation and Key Stage 1

Children’s Traffic Club

The Children’s Traffic Club is an award winning road safety education programme available free to all 3-4 year olds living in Barnet.   The Club helps children develop their road safety awareness in a fun and enjoyable way.   If you didn't receive your registration form from Barnet Primary Care Trust when your child reached 3 years old you can request a form from the Road Safety Team on details opposite.

Once you have registered,  your child will receive seven fun and colourful storybooks, 1 every 3 months.  The books are full of information, stories, games and activities for you and your child to do together.

Children’s Traffic Club Nursery Pack and Road Show

Children's Traffic Club

The nursery pack compliments the teaching that club members get at home.  The pack is structured around 9 road safety themes, all of which are approached through stories, songs, rhymes, discussions, games, activities, counting and art.

The road show brings the characters in the storybooks to life in a fun and lively way and encourages children to join in and learn the road safety messages.  The roadshow can be performed at nurseries, playgroups, early years centres, events and local shopping centres.
