Town centres
Barnet has 69 neighbourhood shopping centres, which are cleaned every day. In the larger town centres we have town keepers.
Barnet’s town keepers help to improve the local quality of life by looking after 13 town centres and tackling problems such as flytipping, litter and graffiti..As part of the continuous fight against graffiti, the council is rolling out its Graffiti Charter
(PDF: 414KB) and seeking signatories to work in partnership with the council to achieve a graffiti free Barnet.
As part of the ongoing success, the council is going to unveil another seven town keepers over 2007-8 as part of its town centre improvements, bringing staff ownership and a presence to more of the boroughs town centres.
Town keepers talk to traders and residents to help familiarise themselves with community issues, such as vandalism, abandoned vehicles, or trade waste problems.
