Marriages and civil partnerships

Barnet Registration and Nationality Service offers the public the facility to carry out their legal duties to register their intention to marry or form a civil partnership. In 2011 we issued 3715 notices of marriage and 70 notices of civil partnership.

We also offer a range of non religious ceremonies, completely tailored to individual needs. In 2011 we solemnised 1020 wedding ceremonies.

We hold records of all marriages that took place in Barnet from 1837. We can supply certified copies of these records for a small fee. A certified copy is not a photocopy; it's a document that can be used for legal purposes.

We also hold records of civil partnership formed in Barnet since 2004. We can supply certified copies of these records for a small fee.

We also provide advice and help on correcting marriage or civil partnership entries that may have to be processed through the General Register Office.
