North London Waste Plan
The seven north London boroughs of Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest are preparing a joint Waste Plan. The Waste Plan will identify a range of suitable sites for the management of all North London 's waste for the next ten to fifteen years and include policies and guidelines for determining planning applications for waste developments.
The joint waste plan will take the place of the non-adopted North London Waste Plan (NLWP). Previously the north London boroughs submitted the NLWP for an independent examination by an appointed inspector on Tuesday 28 February 2012. After the boroughs had submitted the NLWP for examination, the Planning Inspector decided that it failed to meet the Duty to Co-operate and the boroughs have therefore agreed to start again as is required by law.
The process to prepare the new Plan has started and the boroughs have carried out an initial consultation inviting views on what the new Plan should contain. For further information on this initial consultation please visit the North London Waste Plan website. The next stage in the process will be the consultation on the draft version of the joint Waste Plan which is expected in Summer 2014.
