Documents to support your application
Proof of residency
You will need to provide one of the following documents as proof of residence:
- recent Utility Bill (within the last 6 months) - Gas, Electric, Water or Land-Line Telephone, (not a mobile phone bill)
- council or housing trust rent book
- a valid flat or house contents insurance policy
- benefits or pension book
- current Council Tax Bill
- tenancy agreement
- recent (within the last 6 months) Bank or Building Society statement.
If you have recently moved to the London Borough of Barnet and cannot provide the information requested above please provide the proof from the categories below.
A letter of completion on a newly purchased property from a solicitor which must state that the transaction has been completed and is not set for completion at a future date.
Proof of vehicle ownership
Vehicle Registration Document showing the same name and address as the proof of residence (V5). PLEASE NOTE: we do not accept the New Keeper supplement.
Insurance Schedule showing the applicant as the Main Policy Holder with the vehicle insured at the same address as the proof of residence. PLEASE NOTE: we do not accept the Certificate of Motor Insurance or New Keeper supplement.
Company Car Applicants must have a recent dated and signed letter from their employer stating that the applicant is an employee of the Company and confirming the Vehicle Registration Number and the Address where the vehicle will be kept.
Applicants with a long-term lease or hire vehicle must provide a copy of the agreement showing the same address as the proof of residence.

Permit specific information
Gas or electric vehicle permit
Please provide proof of residency, vehicle ownership and LPG conversion documentation.
Carers permit
Please provide proof of residency and a signed letter from your GP indicating how long the care is required.
Religious permit
Please provide proof of vehicle ownership and a letter briefly detailing the nature of your religious/faith duties within the community and the second signatory from the religion/faith supporting the application.
Business permit
Please provide proof of vehicle ownership and a sheet of business headed paper briefly detailing the nature of your business
Builders permit
Please provide proof demonstrating you are carrying out work at the property, e.g. written quotation on letter headed paper.
Doctors permit
Please provide proof of vehicle ownership and practice letter headed paper including details of qualification.
