Barnet is set to pay tribute to the military with a parade and flag raising ceremony to mark Armed Forces Day.

The ceremony on Sunday 25 June, will see army reservists, cadets and ex-servicemen and women assemble for the parade at Hendon Town Hall, in The Burroughs.

As part of the event, the Worshipful the Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Brian Salinger, will raise an Armed Forces Day flag above the town hall.

The annual ceremony is one of many taking place across the country to acknowledge the contribution of both those currently serving in the Armed Forces and those who have served in the past.

The parade will begin at 9.50am, with some road closures and diversions in place from 9.30am.

Residents wishing to attend the ceremony are asked to arrive by 9.30am.

The Mayor of Barnet said: “We owe the men and women of our armed forces a tremendous debt of gratitude and Sunday’s ceremony gives us the chance to acknowledge their contribution.

“I would like to encourage as many residents as possible to come along and show their support.”
