Paralympic Torch relay welcomed to the borough

The Paralympic Flame made its way through West Hendon on its 24-hour journey to the Olympic Park on Wednesday 29 August.
A team of five torchbearers helped carry the flame into the borough and a short way along The Hyde just after 7.30am.
The torchbearing team were: Simon Beresford, Iris Bingham, George Fargher, Sara Clarke and Denise Barnett.

In total 116 teams of torchbearers carried the flame along a 92-mile route from Stoke Mandeville to the Olympic Park in Stratford where it was used to light the cauldron as part of the Paralympic Games opening ceremony.
