Welcome to our new and improved site
Published Tuesday 17 April 2012
We have made major changes to our website and will be adding extra functionality to the site over the coming months.
Firstly, and most importantly, we have changed the navigation for the site, making it much easier to find information. This sits alongside a new, much improved, Google search function.
We also have a new range of directories that will let you search across a range of public services for your nearest facility.
If you sign up to one of the RSS feeds on each landing page, and our news and events pages, you will be sent an alert every time we update that part of that site.
For the first time you can set up a personal account, letting you keep track of your contact history with the council through this site. It will keep a record of any use you make of over 60 e-forms we now have.
Several other improvements are being made to our online activities to coincide with this update. Public access to a new planning database will make it easier to find out information about the progress of planning applications near you (although if you currently sign up to planning alerts, you will have to re-register for these new updates).
We have revised our committee papers site, making it easier to find out information about council meetings and introduced new software for Freedom of Information requests. We will now publish all of our responses. Both of these will be ‘mined’ by the main website, and Council decisions and FOI requests relevant to services will appear on the service pages of the main site.
Over the coming months we will begin to supply more information on a geographical basis, allowing you to find out more about public services near you.
In the meantime if you have any comments, good or bad, we would like to hear from you. We will act upon them when we can. Please email us.
