Barnet’s Mayor, Councillor David Longstaff was among those taking part in this weekend’s London Marathon.

Councillor Longstaff, who was running in aid of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, successfully negotiated the 26.2 mile course in a time of 5 hours, 12 minutes and 10 seconds following months of preparation.

During the last year the Mayor has weaved his many training sessions in around work and almost 400 mayoral engagements.

His schedule continued on Sunday, with the Mayor heading off to attend the Jewish Community National Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony just a few hours after crossing the finishing line.

The Mayor said: “The race was a fantastic experience and the spectators lining the whole route were truly magnificent. The thighs are a little raw the morning after, but it has been a privilege to run for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, as they raise money to develop their new hospice building in Barnet.”
