Barnet Council and GLL would like to apologise to customers for the extended closure of the pools at Finchley Lido Leisure Centre.

In the interest of customer safety, the council made the decision to close public access to the pool in March 2019 to complete essential roof repairs, which were identified as part of a condition survey.

The council has conducted specialist intrusive investigations during the closure period, which require the pools to remain closed to complete the extent of the review and repairs as necessary. It is anticipated full access to the wetside area will be available from early 2020.

We regret any inconvenience this will cause during the closure period. However, operating a safe environment for our customers is our priority and we are working with industry specialists to reopen the pools as soon as feasibly possible.

During the closure period, facility improvements have been progressed to create a better experience for all customers, including completion of new poolside changing facilities and vanity area, new lockers and a better atmosphere for swimmers and spectators following the installation of a new ventilation system.

Please note that the health and fitness suite (gym) and studio remain open as normal.

Swimming remains available within the new facilities at New Barnet Leisure Centre and Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre. For programming and details please visit https://www.better.org.uk/leisure-centre/london/barnet

All Better Swim School lessons will be transferred to Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre and New Barnet Leisure Centre. Please contact each respective facility for more information:
