Giving Tuesday will be held on 3 December this year and Barnet Council is pledging its support to the global generosity movement. One day to make a world of difference.

The UK has been an official partner of Giving Tuesday since 2014 and Barnet Council is excited to be hosting the UK’s first official Giving Tuesday Community Campaign. Let’s all come together as a community and help in any way that we can.
Thousands of partners across the charity and business sectors, with backing from a range of celebrities, have been supporting the growing campaign each year. The movement has helped millions of people come together to support and champion causes close to their heart, and close to the communities they live in. Last year more than £7.8million in online donations was raised in the UK alone, and globally the campaign holds the record for the most money raised online for charity in 24 hours.
Volunteer your time, donate money, food, clothes or goods, or even organise an event to raise funds or awareness for a cause you are passionate about. With more than 1,000 charities in Barnet, Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity to highlight and support their great work.
This year’s Giving Tuesday Campaign is also encouraging people to pledge support to charities throughout the year, making a difference all year round with the Giving Tuesday Pledge. However you are marking Giving Tuesday, let the world know by using the hashtag #GivingTuesdayPledge. Don't forget to also tag #TogetherBarnet
Gráinne Mathews, Giving Tuesday UK Campaign Lead, said: “Giving Tuesday is a chance for us all, no matter where we live or what we do, to help out a cause close to our hearts. This year, we’re also asking people to make a #GivingTuesdayPledge for the year ahead to continue making a difference all year round.
“That might be giving a small monthly donation to a charity, telling people about your favourite cause on social media or volunteering for a couple of hours a month. All of these pledges combine to make a world of difference to so many lives.”
