Mayor of Barnet congratulates Saracens on Champions Cup victory

The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Reuben Thompstone, has offered his congratulations to Saracens Rugby Club, following their remarkable comeback victory against Leinster in the Champions Cup Final.

The final was held at St James’ Park, Newcastle, and saw Saracens beat Leinster 20-10, despite being 10 points behind for nearly half of the game.

The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Reuben Thompstone, said: “I would like to congratulate Saracens on behalf of everyone at the council for winning the Champions Cup on Saturday.

“We are proud that our borough can be home to such a top-class club. Their sporting prowess and community-mindedness has long been recognised by Barnet Council. We applaud their charitable work to help others through the Saracens Sport Foundation, and we have granted them our most prestigious accolade, the Freedom of the Borough.

“Their third Champions Cup victory is great news for our borough – well done, Saracens!”
