Swap, don't shop

Almost a third (26%) of the average Briton’s garments have not been worn in the last year. Why not dig out those clothes lurking at the back of your wardrobe, bring them to Swish & Style and swap them for a new outfit for this year’s festivities?

There will be two events from 1-4pm at the artsdepot, 5 Nether St, North Finchley, N12 0GA, on Saturday this week (14 December) and on Saturday 15 February, 2020.

Bring up to fifteen items; for each item you bring, you will be given a token that you can exchange for another garment.

The events will include workshops where you can learn skills to take home and use on your clothes again. The workshop at this event will be upcycling and boro with Fast Fashion Therapy. Workshop spaces are free but limited, so please sign up on Eventbrite.

Workshops at Swish & Style events across north London will include upcycling, screen printing, repair, fabric dyeing, and Japanese techniques. There will be ONE workshop per event, so check the full listing to see if there are any other events you’d like to attend.

We aim to make our events as accessible as possible, but please contact us if you have any accessibility concerns.

Workshops may be subject to change.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Fast Fashion Therapy are experts in transforming the identities of clothes. They also teach the Japanese technique of boro, a visible mending technique that creates a patchwork effect. In this workshop, you will be able to consult FFT about garments you would like altered, upcycled or repaired and learn techniques so that you can continue to transform your clothes for the better. If you already have something that you would like to mend or repair, you can bring it to the event for consultation.

Workshop spaces are free but limited, so please sign up on Eventbrite to help us to estimate numbers. If you do not sign up, you may not get a space on the day.
