Applicant screening

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Barnet operates stringent safer recruitment procedures.

Posts advertised are exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Successful applicants will have a comprehensive screening process, including DBS disclosure checks (where relevant).

Personal statement

A personal statement is how you describe and evidence how your skills, knowledge and experience meet the requirements of the role as outlined in the job profile and person specification.

Work history

Make sure that all gaps in your employment are dated and explained

Should you be shortlisted for a social work role you will be asked to provide five years of professional references. Non-social work roles require two referees. Please note, one referee must be from your current/recent employer and we only accept one referee per organisation. As an alternative you can provide a character reference who is not your friend or a family member.
