Vacancies and selection process

Our recruitment team is always happy to receive CVs and Personal Statements from qualified social work professionals. Please include your desired role and service area in your statement and submit both documents here.

We will review your CV and add you to our talent pool. You will be the first one to know when we advertise a vacancy matching your skillset.

Applicant screening

Barnet is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Barnet operates stringent safer recruitment procedures.

Posts advertised are exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Successful applicants will have a comprehensive screening process, including DBS disclosure checks.

A personal statement is how you describe and evidence how your skills, knowledge and experience meet the requirements of the role as outlined in the job profile and person specification.

Make sure that all gaps in your employment are dated and explained

Should you be shortlisted for a social work role you will be asked to provide five years of professional references, template available here. Non-social work roles require two referees. Please note, one referee must be from your current/recent employer and we only accept one referee per organisation. As an alternative you can provide a character reference who is not your friend or a family member.
