Are you a creative and self-motivated person, with a passion for working with children and young people? Do you have an interest in children’s participation in decision-making and service development? Do you have experience of delivering forums and working with diverse groups of children and young people?

Barnet has developed a thriving and successful participation service by working in partnership with children and young people in care and care leavers; with the support of their corporate parents and elected members. We are now looking for someone to drive this service further forward who can demonstrate commitment, creativity and fantastic interpersonal skills.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a candidate with participation experience working with children in care and care leavers (aged 5-25 years) who is dedicated to co-production in order to ensure that children are designing, developing and delivering services which affect their lives. It is about working creatively in partnership with young people, their carer’s, social workers, partners, schools, senior managers and elected members to identify and deliver improvements to services within Barnet.

You will be required to deliver our youth voice forums across Barnet to a cohort of children and young people with a range of needs such as, Children with experience of care and Children with SEND.

You will support young people to attend the Corporate Parenting Panel, in the recruitment of staff, work alongside national and local organisations and show a commit to upholding children's rights.

You will need to be able to work flexibly including evenings and occasional weekends. You will need to be passionate about children and young people and have experience of facilitating group work. You will be required to design and implement a programme of events which engage young people into consultation whilst also supporting them to build further resilience and skills for the future.

Please send your CV and supporting letter to kerry.hodges@barnet.gov.uk. Any questions please contact Kerry Hodges on 0208 359 2202.

Candidates who are successful in being chosen for interview will also be required to be interviewed by an interview panel led by young people.

Closing date 27 September 2018.
