Keeping young people safe

We take our responsibilities to children and young people very seriously in Barnet. All new staff are required to undertake a personal interview to ensure we are appointing suitable people to work with children and young people.

The Children’s Service offers a full range of professional development programmes in all areas of child protection and safeguarding, and staff are encouraged to take part in the optional accredited programmes to gain credits towards any future development programmes.

Courses are offered on the legal aspects of safeguarding, issues around domestic violence and neglect, multi-disciplinary working and many more areas. Training is also offered on the Common Assessment Framework.

We are committed to the protection of children. All applicants will be interviewed in line with our safer recruitment policy and the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
