Polling districts and places: interim review - 2018-2019
In accordance with the requirements of section 18C of the Representation of the People Act 1983 (as amended) and the decision of the Council’s General Functions Committee on 11 November 2014 (to review polling arrangements following all borough-wide elections), the London Borough of Barnet will complete an annual interim review of polling districts and polling places for use in connection with all statutory elections held within the borough.
The interim review of polling districts and polling places for 2018-2019 will commence on Monday 19 November and will complete in sufficient time to enable the Electoral Registration Officer to make any alterations necessary to the register of electors (including to elector numbers) when the monthly update is published on Friday 1 March 2019.
The Acting Returning Officers proposals can be found here.
Making a representation:
Any elector registered in the area of the London Borough of Barnet may make a representation on any existing polling district and/or polling place or on the Acting Returning Officer’s proposals and may suggest alternative venues and locations to an existing polling place. Any such representations should be emailed to email@example.com.
In addition to this, representations on any proposed changes will be sought from persons who are considered to have particular expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability.
A list of the locations for the borough’s current polling places is available here or can be requested (along with details of polling district boundaries) by contacting Electoral Services on email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 020 8359 5577.
Representations must be received by no later than 12:00pm (noon) Friday 14 December 2018.
Please note: Copies of all representations received in relation to the review will be submitted to the Council’s Constitution and General Purposes Committee and will also be made available to the general public.
After reviewing the ARO’s proposals and any representations received by the closing date, the Constitution and General Purposes Committee will decide whether to make any changes to current polling arrangements at their meeting on 17 January 2019.
