The Passenger Transport project

The Passenger Transport project considered change in the area of passenger transport for Vulnerable Adults and Children with Special Needs.

Barnet Council was working with five other London boroughs within the West London Alliance (WLA) - Brent, Harrow, Ealing, Hillingdon and Hounslow - to improve passenger transport services and reduce costs. However, during the project it became clear there were no improvements to the quality and efficiency of the Barnet service to be gained from pursuing this partnership. Therefore the council decided not to proceed.

How decisions were made

In September 2011, the Cabinet Resources Committee reviewed and approved a detailed report called Transforming Passenger Transport Services. The report recommended that Barnet formally joins the West London Alliance (WLA), participates in the set-up and operation of the WLA Transport Bureau, and delivers Passenger Transport services jointly with four other London boroughs.
