Binoh is Norwood's Special Educational Needs Service. Any Jewish child with a special educational need can access the Binoh Service, the aim of which is to meet the needs of a child in order to support their learning, improve self-esteem and allow children to shine. Binoh aims to enable children to remain in their current mainstream school. The Binoh Team is able to assess each child, consulting with parents, family members, carers and the child's schoolteachers. A planned programme of support is then developed, which utilises any number of staff, such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Art Therapists, Jewish Studies teachers, a team of specialist teachers or Learning Support assistants. Binoh offers specialist resources and equipment to assist teaching and learning. It also operates two mainstream school support units, which are based at Norwood's Children & Family Centres in Hendon and Hackney. PATH (Parent Advisory Telephone Helpline) is operated by members of Binoh's Educational Psychology Team and offers free advice and information to Jewish parents who are concerned about any aspect of their children's progress or development. Parents can call the PATH helpline on 020 8457 4490.
