The National Mobile Property Register is an online database of registered property ownership and stolen property records.
SmartWater property marking kits
The Metropolitan Police currently have Operation Met Trace in place, with the aim of providing 13,000 SmartWater forensic property marking kits to Barnet residents by the end of 2015. Another 20,000 residents will receive kits in the next two years. Each kit has a unique forensic code registered on a secure database together with the property owner’s details. It can be used to help police trace recovered marked property and link suspects to crime scenes.
Safer Homes Scheme
Barnet also has a Safer Homes Scheme which works closely with the Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams to provide vulnerable residents, particularly those who’ve been burgled or live where a recent burglary has taken place, with a free home security assessment.
Residents can self-refer into the scheme for crime prevention works on their home (owner/occupier). For more information and to check if you are eligible, call 020 8359 4475.
Barnet Council works with the police, courts and other organisations in the Barnet Safer Communities Partnership to help ensure crime figures are reduced even further.
