How decisions were made

The main consultation period for considering the proposals for the future library service has now closed and, after approval by Members of the council in April 2016, the new Library Service is being developed to start in April 2017. The timeline below shows the key decision-making and public consultation stages. 

October 2014

Children’s, Education, Libraries and Safeguarding (CELS) Committee consider initial proposals

November 2014

15 weeks of public consultation launched

February 2015

Public consultation closes with 3,800 responses received

June 2015

Pilot of Self-service Opening hours launched at Edgware Library

October 2015

CELS Committee consider a further proposal to keep all 14 libraries open following consultation feedback and approves further public consultation from October 2015 to January 2016 on specific elements of the proposal.

January 2016

Public consultation closes with more than 1200 responses received

March/April 2016

CELS Committee considers the final proposal for the future Library Service and Full Council gives approval for its implementation.
