The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library or online from Saturday 14 July, then read six library books of your choice to complete the challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s free to take part!

This year we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the much loved comic, Beano, with a 'Mischief Makers' themeFor more information, visit our Summer Reading Challenge page

Fines and charges. From 1 December 2016, we have introduced fines for the late return of child and teen items. These will be charged at a rate of 5p per item per day.  Fines can be avoided by renewing library items either online by phone by calling your local library or in person at any branch.

You will find so much to read for fun and for help with homework whether you visit the library, or borrow ebooks, audiobooks or magazines online. There are also lots of great activities to do after school and in school holidays.

Regular activities for primary school children include:

  • Lego club: learn to build, design and work in teams at our Lego clubs
