Free wi-fi available in town centres

Residents visiting a number of Barnet’s town centres will now be able to enjoy 30 minutes public wi-fi every day.

Residents visiting a number of Barnet’s town centres will now be able to enjoy 30 minutes public wi-fi every day.

The new service means that people in 14 town centres* can now log on to 30 minutes of free wi-fi, as well as unlimited free access to the council’s website.

Pay-as-you-go options are available to extend access at £5 per day, £10 per week or £30 per month.

Providing access to free wi-fi is part of the council’s ongoing commitment of supporting town centres as well as developing the borough’s digital infrastructure. The wi-fi service is being provided by Arqiva at no cost to the council.

Councillor Daniel Thomas, Chairman of Assets, Regeneration and Growth Committee, said: “This exciting new scheme is part of our approach to improve people’s experience of their local high street, encouraging increased footfall to support local businesses.”
