Staying safe during the hot weather
- Public health
With temperatures set to climb this week there are a number of practical pointers for vulnerable groups such as older people, young children and those with long term health conditions to help them stay safe.
High temperatures can pose health risks for older people, people with mobility problems, young children and those with serious illnesses like heart disease, long term breathing problems, Parkinson’s and mental health.
It can also affect healthy people - especially if they are doing manual work or sports outside.
People who may be at risk are being advised to stay out of the heat, to keep themselves hydrated and cool with cold drinks, and to try and keep the environment they are in cool.
