MOT test centre
You can MOT your vehicle at our MOT Test Centre in Oakleigh Road Depot Workshop in Oakleigh Road South, N11 1HJ.
We are not linked to any commercial vehicle repair companies and provide a fair service. We will give you an unbiased report on your vehicle if it fails the MOT or emissions standard.
We do not carry out vehicle repairs.
Book an MOT test
You need to book an appointment with us for your MOT test.
We are open Monday to Friday 7 am to 7 pm and Saturday 7 am – 3 pm, we are closed on Sundays, bank holidays and during the Christmas period.
MOT test takes approximately one hour.
Let us know which time and date suits you when booking, however, please note appointments are subject to availability.
When making the booking, we will need your vehicle registration number, make & model of your vehicle and your contact details.
The test can be completed up to one month prior to the expiry date of your current MOT certificate.
On the day of your appointment, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your test is due to start and remember to bring your current MOT certificate with you which will save some time.

Costs and how to pay
The cost of the MOT depends on the type of your vehicle. Each test includes a free re-test as long as you return your vehicle within 10 working days.
- Class 4 (Cars up to 8 passenger seats) - £54.00
- Class 4A (Private passenger vehicles 9-12 seats) - including seat belt installation check - £57.00
- Class 5 (13-16 seats) - £59.00
- Class 5A (13-16 seats) - including seat belt installation check - £59.00
- Class 7 (Goods vehicles 3000kg-3500kg) - £58.00
- MOT Re-Test - £20.00
- Duplicate test certificate - £10.00
You can pay for the MOT test using cash or a credit/debit card (excluding American Express) at the testing centre on the day.
Cheques will not be accepted.
MOT testing centre location
The Council’s MOT Test Centre is at:

Oakleigh Road South
On arrival at the Council’s security barrier, tell the security officer that you are there for an MOT test. We will give you a Hi-Vis vest to wear and directed to the MOT parking area.
Follow the instructions to the parking area, then report to the MOT reception at the workshop.
What to do before the test
Before the MOT Test, please check:
- your tyres are correctly inflated and meet the requirements set by law;
- all your lights are working;
- your windscreen does not have any chips or cracks within the area swept by the wipers;
- the wipers are not worn.
What happens after the test
If your vehicle passes the MOT test, we will give you a new MOT certificate which will be valid for up to 13 months. You will need to pay the relevant fee.
If your vehicle does not pass, we will give you a failure sheet with details of the fault(s). You will need to get the fault(s) fixed before asking for a re-test.
We have to carry out re-tests within 10 working days from the test date. If it is not carried out within this period we will charge you a full MOT test fee.
