Weight management

Recently Barnet took part in the Great Weight Debate. This was an opportunity for the general public to share their views on childhood obesity. The survey has now closed; here is a report of the findings.

0-18 years Healthy Weight Care Pathway

Alive 'N' Kicking

Weekly nutrition and physical activity group sessions for 12 weeks for children, parents/carers and siblings.

4-12 years old.

Overweight or obese according to the National Child Measurement Programme (91st to 98th centile).

Primary care and other healthcare professional

Self-referrals (child would be assessed at first visit and BMI measured)

School Time Obesity Prevention (STOP)

6 or 12 week school-based intervention programme.

STOP practitioners deliver teaching on nutritional workshops and physical activity sessions.

The STOP programme can help to contribute to Healthy School London Silver award.

7 to 10 years old.

In the very obese category (over 98 centile) or who has complex needs.
