Pesach collection service 2018

  • Rubbish, waste and recycling

We are providing a dedicated Pesach collection service to the Jewish community. Please note collection arrangements are different from last year.

This refuse service will be in operation at houses on 300-plus pre-designated roads, making it simple for residents to dispose of Pesach refuse and Chometz before Passover.

If your normal refuse collection day is:
Monday 26, Tuesday 27 or Wednesday 28 March
 

Your collection arrangements are:

  • Refuse bin collections will take place as normal on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Collections of refuse sacks of Pesach waste will take place on Thursday 29 March from 6.30am. Please only put out a maximum of three sacks. Leave sacks on the boundary of your property.

​We will only be collecting refuse sacks on this day, we will not be emptying your bin.


If your normal refuse collection day is:
Monday 26, Tuesday 27 or Wednesday 28 March
 

Your collection arrangements are:

  • Refuse bin collections will take place as normal on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.            
     
  • A pre-bookable collection of a maximum of  three refuse sacks only (no bins) of Pesach waste for Thursday 29th March can also be requested in advance.
     
  • Email pesach@barnet.gov.uk or call 020 8359 4600 from 9am on Monday 19 March and until midday on Friday 23 March to book a collection of additional sacks.

We will only be collecting refuse sacks on this day, we will not be emptying your bin.


If your normal refuse collection day is:
Thursday 29 or Friday 30 March
 

Your collection arrangements are:

  • Pesach waste will be collected as part of your normal refuse bin collection from 6.30am on your normal refuse collection day.
     
  • In addition to emptying your refuse bins  additional sacks of Pesach waste will be collected on your normal refuse collection day. Please only put out a maximum of three sacks.
     
  • Please note that collections may take place at a different time of day than usual. There will be no further collection

If your normal refuse collection day is:
Thursday 29 or Friday 30 March
 

Your collection arrangements are:

  • You do not need to book a collection.
     
  • Pesach waste will be collected as part of your normal refuse bin collection from 6.30am on
    your normal refuse collection day.
     
  • In addition to emptying your refuse bins  additional sacks of Pesach waste will be collected on your normal refuse collection day.Please only put out a maximum of three sacks.
  • Please note that collections may take place at a different time of day than usual. There will be no further collection.

 

Handy tips for managing your Pesach Waste

  • collections of refuse, recycling and food waste, and green garden waste bins will take place on your usual collection days

  • please make use of any available capacity in your appropriate waste and recycling containers as part of the weekly collection schedules in advance of the Pesach collection service

  • please ensure your Pesach waste is contained securely in your refuse bin in the first instance

  • waste not presented in either refuse bins or refuse sacks as set out above will not be collected

  • please do not place any excess food waste in the green garden waste bin or blue recycling bin, use your brown food waste bin

  • please do not overfill refuse bins or refuse sacks, as it may not be possible to collect these containers

  • we intend to complete all Pesach collections by sunset on Friday 30 March

  • if you have more Pesach waste than you can fit in your refuse bin or refuse sacks as set out above, you can use the bulky waste collection service. This is a chargeable service.

  • if you have missed your collection take your waste to the Reuse and Recycling Centre, Summers Lane, N12 0RF. The Centre is open from 8.45am to 4.15pm every day. For unwanted old goods such as clothes and furniture, residents are advised to donate reusable clothing to charity shops and furniture to the Barnet Furniture Centre, 4 Queens Parade, N11 3FY.

  • check if your local supermarket is accepting donations of any unwanted food, or if if there are any local Food Banks that you could donate to.
