Council Tax Discretionary Relief (CTDR) for the terminally ill
From 1 April 2026, residents that are terminally ill will qualify for Council Tax Discretionary Relief if they:
- are liable for Council Tax
- receive Council Tax Support
- provide a Special Rules SR1 medical form, completed by a clinician confirming a terminal diagnosis.
How the CTDR will be paid
If your application is successful, the funds will be credited directly to your council tax account.
